Protecting People, Structures and Environment

The presence of hazardous materials can threaten the health and safety of building occupants.

The Job of an Industrial Hygienist

Industrial hygienists are scientists dedicated to protecting the health and safety of communities, whether in their homes, workplaces or public buildings. Our job involves identifying and analyzing potentially dangerous contaminants such as mold, asbestos, lead, methamphetamine, bacteria, and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in the structures of buildings. These hazards can cause a wide range of negative outcomes, from structural damage to serious illness.

Understanding Liability

Dangerous contaminations must be assessed and remediated professionally. There are many laws and regulations pertaining to toxic mold, lead and asbestos, from Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandates to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and enforcement policies. Failure to properly assess and cleanup contamination is a significant liability.

Removal of Hazardous Materials / Laws and Regulations

Identifying hazardous materials before renovation or demolition begins and understanding the health, safety and environmental regulations that apply to removal and disposal are essential. Uncontrolled disturbance of contaminated materials can result in dangerous exposures and further contamination of the building, project (renovation and demolition) delays, additional cleanup expenses and regulatory violations.

Environmental Solutions exists to support demolition, renovation, remediation and abatement processes and prevent hazardous exposures. We start by taking samples of suspect materials and sending them to our certified laboratory for testing. Then we provide a comprehensive report on the findings. But our job doesn’t end there. We deliver a full range of professional industrial hygiene services including consultation(s) that help you understand risks and develop pragmatic plans for proper maintenance and/or cleanup.
